Sufi Whirling Workshop
Join us for a three-hour immersive workshop introducing the sacred art of turning as a moving meditation and path of inner remembrance. Led by Cansu Durucan, with support from singer and musician Ruhiya, this gentle and accessible experience invites participants to explore the profound stillness that can be found within movement. Rooted in the Sufi tradition yet open to all, the workshop weaves together grounding practices, breath awareness, embodiment, music and guided whirling, offering a safe and supportive environment for beginners and experienced practitioners alike. No previous dance or movement experience is necessary.
As we journey together, we will explore the symbolism and philosophy of whirling as a practice of presence, balance and surrender. Accompanied by live devotional music and held within a welcoming circle, participants are invited to cultivate a deeper connection with the heart, the body and the Divine, however they understand it. Through moments of movement, reflection and rest, this workshop offers an opportunity to quiet the mind, awaken the spirit and experience the joy of turning in harmony with the rhythms of life.
